Top 7 tips for whatsapp

7 useful tips will allow us to get to know the hidden functions of WhatsApp, improve the use of the application and adjust it to your needs.

WhatsApp is not only an extremely popular mobile messenger, which has more than one billion downloads in the Google Play store itself, but also the most popular mobile application in the world. To start the adventure with WhatsApp, it is necessary to create an account strictly related to the phone number on which we installed the program. It is the phone number that identifies us in the application, thanks to which, just after creating an account, we have access to contacts from our address book, also having an account in WhatsApp.

Through the WhatsApp application, you can call for free – how it works and what to watch out for, we’ll find out later in the text. With longer chats, the small keyboard of the smartphone may be uncomfortable. Fortunately, we can also use WhatsApp on a PC or tablet, where the comfort of writing is much bigger. Have fun with WhatsApp!

WhatsApp offers many more options than just chatting and sharing photos with friends – the communicator also allows you to make phone calls. Because conversations are transmitted over the internet, only a subscription for data transfer or Wi-Fi connections is required. Phone charges do not apply to us. This means that calls via WhatsApp are a great solution for people staying or having friends or family overseas – thanks to the communicator they can keep contact with them at virtually no cost.

We want to see our interlocutor? No problem – there are also video calls. With the live image, the conversation is not only more personal, but also, for example, we can show a beautiful view of a holiday beach to a friend. The only condition is that both callers must use WhatsApp.

When the WhatsApp message arrives, we unlock the phone, open the app, search for a chat to respond. However, you can respond without turning on the application window.

iOS: when we hold the finger on the notification, we will immediately enter the answer mode with the keyboard displayed.
Android: drag notification down with your finger and touch Reply. In the window that appears, we respond.

Beta version

No more waiting for updates! The beta version allows Android users to discover new features before others. It is worth knowing, however, that if we use the new emoji, only those who use the beta version will see it. In addition, there may be errors.

That’s how we get the beta: in the Google Play store we’re looking for WhatsApp. Scroll down the screen until we find the position Become a beta tester. After a few minutes, you will switch to the beta channel. Re-installation is not necessary. You can return to the normal version at any time.

If some of the notifications irritate us, someone tires us with cat’s pictures, we will block them quickly and easily. But beware, this is a fairly radical step, almost equal to deleting the contact. With such a person, we will no longer be able to exchange messages or make calls via WhatsApp. After blocking, the profile picture will also be invisible. If you’ve decided to do so, we’ll do the following:

iOS: we touch Settings, Account, Privacy, Blocked and Add new …
Android: touch Settings, Account, Privacy, Blocked contacts and icons in the upper right corner (Select contact).

Who do you chat with most often? With a partner, boss or maybe with mother? To open the overview, we perform the steps:

iOS: select Settings, Data and memory consumption and Memory usage. By touching the contact, we go to the detailed view. There we will see how many messages, photos, gifs, videos, voice messages and documents we have sent and collected. The practical function is also the control of data transfer.
Android: Google has only a general overview of transfer usage available to Google.

Securing chat

To retain messages including uploaded photos and videos, even if you change or your smartphone has been stolen, it’s best to protect them. We will use the backup function for this. After configuration, the protection will be automatic.

iOS: we touch Settings, Chats, Chat Backup, Archive now.
Android: touch Settings, Chats, Backup, CREATE A COPY OF A ZAP. To restore the backup, when we reconfigure WhatsApp, touch RESTORE.

Data spying

If we do not want everyone to see our status in the WhatsApp application or our profile photo (which may be too much to reveal about us), choose the right privacy settings. Thanks to this, we will have an impact on the information provided. We can also define here whether read receipts will be visible.

To do this, select Settings, Account and Privacy (or Data Protection). Then, we touch the appropriate settings, determining whether everyone, nobody or only our contacts will receive the information. In the case of status settings, we can also select specific contacts that will not see the status.

By the way, it’s worth knowing that WhatsApp will always tell you whether we’re online or not. Anyone with our phone number can see if we’re available.
